Senior Peyton Brown punched his ticket to Ohio State Wrestling Championships. Brown finished 4th at sectionals the week prior meaning he would face a number one seed to start the weekend. Unfazed by the seeding, Brown pinned the one seed from Clinton-Massie before majoring a 2nd seed to send himself into the semi-finals. Brown dropped his semi-final match(to the eventual district champ) putting him in the bloundround(winners in the bloundround become state qualifiers). Brown was not to be denied pinning his opponent in the 2nd period punching his ticket to state! Brown ended up taken 4th and will look to bust more brackets next weekend.
Colten Jacobe will also be heading to state in the form of an alternate. Jacobe lost in the first round of the tournament making every match a win or go home scenario. Jacobe stepped up to the challenge rattling off three consecutive wins before falling in the bloodround. Jacobe was able to keep his focus and win his match for 5th place and state alternate spot.
Unfortunately, one bulldogs season ended today. Sophomore Nick Devlin lost a tough battle to start the day ending his tournament run. Making it to districts day 2 is an astonishing achievement for Devlin as he has only wrestled for two years. There are definitely some great things ahead for this young man.
